Trine 3 brings back our trio of heroes (Pontius, Amadeus and Zoya) and sets them off on a new adventure, one that will teach them about the history of their world, and about Trine itself. Despite that effort not working out, I’ve since been fond of the series, and jumped at the chance to play Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power on Nintendo Switch, especially as I hadn’t yet had chance to experience the game from its earlier release back in 2015. Amadeus always liked adventure in theory rather than practice, preferring the fame and stories of his deeds to the actual accomplishment of those deeds that often deprive him of naps and family vacations.My first exposure to the Trine series came as part of an ill-fated attempt to introduce my partner to co-operative gaming, back in the earlier days of the PlayStation 4. Perhaps he is not the most skillful or terrifying wizard, but the heroes rely on Amadeus for all things magic and legends. As a married wizard and father of triplets, Amadeus can use his spells to conjure up mystical boxes and move obstacles. With only a broken artifact wielding them, the heroes must try to repair the damage they have caused … or the damage that may have been left.

The heroes try to return their extraordinary gifts to the artifact called Trine, and so they interfere in forces they cannot understand: Trine breaks and a heartless old wizard escapes.

Amadeus the Wizard, Pontius the Knight, and Zoya the Thief have slowly come to the conclusion that having a powerful magical artifact ruled their lives is not a desirable state of existence.
